RENO, Nev. – For the second time during the indoor season, sophomore Emily Costello has been named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week.
At the Boise State Challenge, the sophomore started the meet on Friday with a big accomplishment in the 200 meter dash prelims. Costello not only beat her personal best, but also broke the school record in the event.
The sophomore from Folsom, Calif. originally was ranked sixth all-time at Nevada in the event with a time of 24.53. Costello ended the event with a time of 24.06 which was good enough for the school record, beating out Angelica Earls with her time of 24.22.
The sophomore then continued her success on Saturday in the 400m dash. Costello ran an impressive 55.39 which increased her already fourth place Nevada all-time placement in the event. The time also earned her a first place finish in the meet.
In the Mountain West, Costello has two top-ten rankings in her respective events. Costello is ranked third in the 200m dash with her school record breaking time of 24.06. She also ranks seventh in the 400m dash with her time of 55.39. Both of her times coming from the Boise State Challenge this past weekend.
The Wolf Pack track team will take a week off before it competes in the Mountain West Indoor Championship in Albuquerque, N.M. on February 27-29.
