Junior Julien Evrard has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the week after his performance in last week’s ITA Mountain Regional in Las Vegas. Evrard went 9-2 and made it to the finals of both the singles and doubles brackets.
This is the second time Evrard has been named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the week, earning the honor in April of last season, when he went 4-0 against conference foes San Diego State and UNLV.
Evrard is the first from Nevada to make it to the either final of the regional, having made it to both. The second-place finish in the singles bracket earned him a place in the Oracle ITA National Championships in Surprise, Ariz. from Nov. 7-11. He will be the first member of the Pack to compete in the 128-person tournament.
Paired with Kostya Nesterenko in the doubles bracket, the duo went 4-0 before falling to a pair from Northern Arizona 7-5, 6-2. In the singles competition, Evrard went 5-0 before falling 7-6, 6-3 to New Mexico’s Rickey Hernandez-Tong.
Next up for the team is the Fresno State Invitational from Nov. 2-4 in Fresno, Calif.
