Norene Iosia enters her third season as Asst. Volleyball Coach for Nevada Volleyball. Iosia joins the Nevada Wolf Pack with a wealth of volleyball experience.
Iosia attended the University of Hawai’i where she earned a bachelors degree in Sociology. As a setter/outside hitter, she concluded her standout career at UH ranked No. 9 with 3,148 career assists, No. 8 with 1,175 career digs and tied for No. 2 with 139 service aces. Iosia finished her career with 64 career double-doubles and five triple doubles. She is only the second UH setter to ever earn the Big West Conference Player of the Year honors, seventh UH player to earn all-conference first team honors all four years and the 12th Rainbow Wahine to be named AVCA all America honorable mention (2019).
After her collegiate career, she played 3 years professionally overseas: Greece in 2020-2021 (AEK Volleyball Club), Hungary in 2021-2022 (St. Benedek Volleyball Club) and Switzerland in 2022-2023 (VC Kanti Volleyball Club).Â
Iosia prepped at Redondo Union High School where she was named the Daily Breeze’s Player of the Year (2013, ‘14 and ‘15) and all-state D1 Player of the Year honors in 2014 and ‘15. She was the winner of the 2016 Andi Collin’s Award, which is given to the best senior setter in the nation. Iosia helped to lead the Sea Hawks to four league titles and a pair of state championships in 2014 and 2015. SheÂ
represented American Samoa in the 2015 South Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, contributing the the countries first gold medal in women’s volleyball.Â
Iosia is a Long Beach California native and is the fourth of six children. She has two sisters, Naomi, who graduated from Hope International University, and Nalani is in her 5th year at Michigan State University. She has three brothers, Nathanael, Nehemiah and Nazareth. Her parents are Moemoe and Marlene Iosia of Long Beach, Calif.Â
