Jackson Metichecchia enters his second season as an assistant coach for Nevada volleyball. Metichecchia joined the Wolf Pack staff after spending two seasons (2017-18) as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at LMU in southern California.
In his first season at Nevada, the Pack improved to a 17-13 overall record and a 7-11 record in the Mountain West. During 2019, he primarily worked with the setters, Dalyn Burns and Andrea Alcaraz. Burns became just the fifth member of the volleyball program to mark over 3,000 assists in her career while collecting 1,087 on the 2019 season.
In his first year with LMU in 2017, Metichecchia helped the Lions to a 16-13 overall record, including a 9-9 mark in the WCC to earn a share of fourth place in the conference standings. The Lions featured six players who took home WCC All-Academic honors, while three more earned All-WCC selections. The WCC leader in service aces with 202 (1.87 per set), LMU finished the year ranked sixth in the nation in the category - posting the fifth-most aces in LMU history.
Prior to LMU, Metichecchia was an assistant coach at Santa Monica College for two seasons before taking the helm at the head coaching position. He spent the next two seasons at the helm before joining LMU in 2017.
Metichecchia grew up playing basketball and volleyball in Littlerock, California. He earned all-league honors in both sports at Littlerock High School, and played club ball at Revolution. He continued playing at Pierce College from 2008-2010, earning first team all-conference honor before transferring to Mount Olive College in North Carolina, where he was awarded all-conference honors, won a conference championship, and led the NCAA Division I-II in assists per set during the 2011 season.
