Hays Myers enters his third season working in the University of Nevada basketball program and second as the director of player development for the Wolf Pack. Myers was a graduate assistant in his first year with the Wolf Pack.
Myers is in charge of opponent film exchange. His duties also include preparation of film for opponent scouting for both coaches and players. He is in his first year as the academic liason.
Last season he helped the Wolf Pack to a second consecutive Mountain West outright title, just the second school in conference history to accomplish the feat. The Pack made a second consecutive NCAA Tournament and reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in school history. The team went 29-8 and 15-3 in MW play. The 29 wins tied the school record for victories. In his two years at Nevada the Pack has won 57 games, made two trips to the NCAA Tournament, captured two regular season MW titles and reach an NCAA Sweet 16.
Myers joined the Wolf Pack staff after five years as a student manager for the Louisiana State University men’s basketball team. Myers began his career at LSU under Head Coach Trent Johnson and his staff. After one year, Johnson left for TCU and Johnny Jones was hired at LSU. Jones now the Pack’s associate head coach. Myers worked for four years under Jones. In 2014, Jones hired Eric Musselman as Associate Coach. Myers worked directly with coach Musselman on scouting reports.
In Myers’ fourth year as a manager and third with coach Jones, LSU went to the first round of the NCAA tournament. In his time at LSU, Myers has worked with coaches such as David Patrick, the head coach at UC Riverside, coach Musselman and Brendan Suhr, former Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks assistant coach. Myers also worked with several NBA players including the 2016 overall number one selection Ben Simmons and Jarrell Martin who was also taken in the first round of the NBA draft. He has also worked with Johnny O’Bryant and Jordan Mickey who were both second NBA picks.
Myers was a two-sport letterman in high school at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas. He was named a captain as a senior on his basketball team. He played basketball for Chris and Cameron Hill, sons of former NBA Head Coach Bob Hill.
Myers graduated in May of 2016 from LSU with a degree in mass communication and two minors in sports studies and leadership development.
He is son to David and Sharla Myers. David was a manager for LSU in 1981 when the Tigers went to the Final Four under Dale Brown.
