The 2017-18 season will be the first for Derek Saich as the video coordinator for the University of Nevada men’s basketball team. Saich joins the Wolf Pack after spending last two seasons as video coordinator at Santa Barbara with additional duties as the Gauchos director of academics this past season.
As the director of academics he was responsible for overseeing player academics, coordinating study hall, tutoring players and evaluating transcripts of incoming recruits.
Saich’s duties as the video coordinator included the breakdown of game and practice film, coding of games, opponent scouting and producing recruit videos.
In 2015-16 he worked as a member of the fan experience gameday staff at Stanford where he managed in-venue activation, promotions, and fan engagement activities. He assisted the marketing staff to coordinate successful events.
From 2012-15 he was a student manager and video coordinator at Santa Barbara. The video coordinator duties began his junior year while working on his undergraduate degree. He assisted with practice, team and individual drills, oversaw opponent shootarounds, and worked as a counselor at team camps.
The Placerville, Calif. native earned his bachelor’s degree in biopsychology from Santa Barbara in 2015.
