The 2018-19 season will be the second for Christian Murphy as a graduate assistant with the Nevada basketball program. Murphy came to the Wolf Pack after spending a season as an assistant coach and head junior varsity coach at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
During his time at Central College, Murphy specialized in recruiting, film, alumni relations, and player development.
Last season he helped the Wolf Pack to a second consecutive Mountain West outright title, just the second school in conference history to accomplish the feat. The Pack made a second consecutive NCAA Tournament and reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in school history. The team went 29-8 and 15-3 in MW play. The 29 wins tied the school record for victories.
From West Hartford, Conn., Murphy graduated from Butler University in 2016, where he was four-year student manager for the Bulldogs, two years as a head manager. He received his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership with a concentration in journalism. Murphy is pursuing his master’s degree in educational leadership at Nevada.
