RENO, Nev. - Nevada cut an early six-run deficit down to two but could not make it all the way back, falling 13-7 to Sacramento State Tuesday night in Reno.

Sacramento State (21-25) scored thrice in the fourth then went up 9-3 on Jamie Mullin's solo homer in the top of the fifth.

Nevada (23-18) cut it to two in the bottom half. Mikey Cruz Jr. and Sean Yamaguchi went back-to-back with solo shots, the seventh of the season for Cruz and 11th for Yamaguchi, to make it 9-5. With two on and two out, Nate Snakenborg made it a two-run game at 9-7 with a double down the line in left which scored Junhyuk Kwon and Jackson Waller.

Snakenborg paced the Wolf Pack Tuesday, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk. Jayce Dobie went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, extending his hitting streak to 21 games.

The Hornets pulled away, however, getting a run on a wild pitch in the seventh then tacking on three insurance runs in the eighth to go up 13-7. Jakob Poturnak opened the inning's scoring with a sacrifice fly, capping his five-RBI night while going 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run homer in the first. Erick Dessens had three hits and Mullin went 2-for-5 with his homer and two RBIs.

Mahiro Tomita took the loss for the Wolf Pack, giving up five runs (four earned) over 2.1 innings. For the Hornets, Elijah Rogalski picked up his first win, giving up just an unearned run over the first two innings.

Nevada gets back to Mountain West play this weekend, traveling to San Diego State for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
