Walk off home run from Di Genova gives Nevada the win over Fresno State

RENO, Nev. — Nevada (35–14, 15–5 MW) opened its weekend series with a dramatic 9–8 walk‑off win over Fresno State (20–21, 9–11 MW) on Friday night at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park.

After falling behind 1–0 in the first, Nevada answered with a four‑run second inning. Lexi O'Gorman opened the frame with a double, before Rylie Haith tied the game with an RBI single. Madison Clark and Karolyn Glover each added sacrifice flies, and Anna Braukus capped the surge with an RBI groundout to give the Pack a 4–1 lead.

Fresno State countered with four runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to move ahead 8–5, but Nevada answered back. The Pack had for four runs in the bottom of the sixth, beginning with Haith's first home run in the Silver and Blue. O'Gorman followed with a second double, and pinch‑hitter Maya Larsen launched a two‑run home run to tie the game. Clark later pushed across the go‑ahead run with her second sacrifice fly of the night.

With the game tied in the bottom of the seventh, Hannah Di Genova stepped in with two outs and delivered a walk‑off solo home run, her team‑leading 21st of the season, to seal the 9–8 victory.

Nevada used four arms in the win, with a back‑and‑forth offensive night from Fresno State. Tess Bumiller opened the game and worked three innings, while Hailey McLean steadied the Pack with 1.2 scoreless frames, allowing just one hit and striking out three. Ainsley Berlingeri handled the fifth and sixth before Talia Tretton took over in the seventh, delivering the game's most important outs. Tretton allowed just one hit and struck out one in the final inning to earn the win.

Nevada and Fresno State continue the series Saturday at 3:05 PM in Reno.
