RENO, Nev. - After a weekend off from Mountain West play, Nevada came back with a statement, routing San José State, 11-1, in eight innings Friday at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.

All nine Nevada starters got a hit, with six turning in a multi-hit game. Sean Yamaguchi led the way going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, the last plating Jayce Dobie with the winning run in the bottom of eighth. Mikey Cruz Jr. went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 15 games, while Jackson Waller was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Wolf Pack (18-12, 7-3 MW) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first. With two on and one out, Nevada got back-to-back RBI singles from Dobie and Cruz to open the scoring, followed by Yamaguchi's RBI double to left-center. Cruz came home on Jake Harvey's tapper to short, then Waller plated Yamaguchi with a single through the right side.

Luke Schat opened the game for Nevada and struck out two while allowing just one hit over the first two innings. Aidan Brainard came on to start the third, striking out eight and allowing just a run over 4.2 innings and getting his third win of the season.

Nevada tacked on runs in the third and fifth to go up 7-0, then put things away in the eighth. Jack Metcho doubled off the wall in left to score Jake Harvey, then came in on Rominic Quiban's triple down the line in right. Dobie drove in Quiban with an infield single then, with the bases loaded, Yamaguchi's shot off the wall scored Dobie to trigger the mercy-rule victory.

San José State (13-20, 4-6 MW) put 14 runners on in the contest, with eight coming on free passes (seven walks, one HBP) but stranded 13. Starter David Thomas fell to 3-4, giving up seven runs on 11 hits over five innings.

The teams return to action Saturday at 2:05 p.m. at Peccole Park.
