RENO, Nev. - For the second-straight game, a five-run inning late brought the Wolf Pack to victory. This time, a five-spot in the bottom of the eighth erased a one-run deficit and led Nevada to an 11-7 win in Friday's series opener against Pacific.

Jake Harvey started the rally with the Wolf Pack (6-5) trailing 7-6, legging out a triple to the wall in right then scoring on Rominic Quiban's sacrifice fly to left.

Junhyuk Kwon reached on a throwing error from Pacific third baseman Grant MacArthur in the next at-bat. That error sparked a four-run outburst started when pinch-runner Jack Metcho took second on a wild pitch then scored on Jayce Dobie's RBI single. After a single from Sean Yamaguchi and a two-out intentional walk to Lee Matsuzaki, Sam Kane forced in a run with a walk of his own before Jackson Waller plated Yamaguchi and Matsuzaki with a double to left.

Andres Castro worked a scoreless ninth to seal up the win. Dominic Desch returned to action, pitching a scoreless eighth to pick up his first win of the season.

Mahiro Tomita was again clutch in a relief role. Coming on with one out in the second for starter Alessandro Castro and the Pack down 6-4, Tomita limited the Tigers (6-7) to just a run on four hits with five strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

At the plate, Matsuzaki reached base in all five plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two walks and an RBI. Jayce Dobie also had three hits while driving in two, Waller knocked in three runs and Kwon went the opposite way in the first inning for a two-run homer.

Pacific scored three times in the top of the first against Castro, but thanks to Kwon's homer in the bottom half Nevada put up four of its own for a quick lead. Robert Orr was 3-for-3 for the Tigers while Jake Tandy drove in two runs.

The teams face off in the second game of the series Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
