Nevada Softball closes out Day One of the Jane Sanders Classic

Eugene, Oregon – Nevada Softball ended the first day of the Jane Sanders Classic 1-1 with a win over Oregon State and a loss to Sacramento State.
Nevada continues play at the Jane Sanders Classic tomorrow as they take on Oregon State at 10 a.m. and No. 18/5 Oregon at 3:30 p.m.

Nevada 7, Oregon State 5
Nevada started the morning off strong when Madison Clark scored putting the Pack in the lead early on. The Beavers responded with five runs of their own to take the lead, 5-1. Talia Tretton had a two run RBI to bring in Katie Wetteland and Bailie Clark. Haylee Engelbrecht stepped up to the plate with an RBI single allowing Bailie Clark to score cutting the deficit to 5-4.

The fifth inning is where Nevada gained momentum. Wetteland and Hannah Di Genova had back-to-back home runs giving the Pack the lead. The game closed with Di Genova hitting an RBI single bringing in Wetteland.

Tretton earned the win allowing only four hits, five runs, with two strike outs.

Sacramento State 9, Nevada 7
Nevada's second game of the day started in the Hornets' favor when they scored two runs in the top of the first. The Wolf Pack wasted no time and answered with two runs of their own tying the game at 2-2. Nevada took their lead in the third inning when Tretton singled in Wetteland. Anna Braukus had an RBI single to bring in Bailie Clark.

Sacramento State tied up the game at 4-4 in the top of seventh sending the game into extra innings. Through the eighth inning the game stayed tied up at 5-5. In ninth inning is where the Hornets had their breakthrough from a grand slam. Nevada scored twice in the bottom of the ninth but ultimately fell short at 9-7.
