RENO, Nev. — Nevada (23-12, 5-3 MW) fell 5–2 to San José State (11-20, 3-5 MW) on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams remained scoreless through the first two innings. San José State broke through in the third, with a two‑run homer from Ahmiya Noriega to take a 2–0 lead after three.
The Spartans continued with a three‑run inning in the top half, highlighted by a solo shot from Taylor Chillingworth that pushed the SJSU advantage to 5–0. Nevada responded in the bottom of the fourth when
Bailie Clark launched a solo home run to left, trimming the deficit to 5–1.
Nevada added one more run in the seventh when
Haylee Engelbrecht delivered an RBI double to make it 5–2, but the Spartans closed out the frame to secure the win.

Sofie Seese entered in the fourth allowing three runs and two hits.
Talia Tretton delivered a strong finish, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts to keep Nevada within reach.
