OREM, Utah - Nevada (21-11, 4-2 MW) opened its midweek trip to Orem with a statement, beating Utah Valley (19-10, 2-1 WAC) in a 10–2 run‑rule victory on Monday evening at Wolverine Field.
The Wolf Pack wasted no time setting the tone, as
Madison Clark launched the first home run of her Nevada career to take the lead at 1-0. Clark finished the night 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three-RBI, adding a triple as part of an eight‑total‑base performance .
Hannah Di Genova followed Clark's early spark with a two‑run home run later in the first inning giving Nevada a quick 2–0 advantage. Utah State tied it up with two runs of their own. In the top of the third, Anna Braukus hit an RBI single to give Nevada the lead 3-2.
Madison Clark hit a two-RBI triple to extend the lead at 5-2. Immediately following, Utah Valley had a wild pitch allowing Madison Clark to score and push the lead once again to 6-2. Di Genova hit a two-RBI double extending the lead once again to 8-2 while Haylee Engelbrecht added a two-run home run in the fourth to help Nevada extend its lead to 10-2 .
In the circle, Tess Bumiller earned her eighth win of the season, working three innings with two earned runs allowed and one strikeout before handing the ball to Hailey McLean. McLean was dominant in relief, retiring all six batters she faced and striking out five to close out the run‑rule victory in five innings .
Nevada now looks to a home series against SJSU at Christina M. Hixson from March 27-29.
