Nevada takes the series win over Utah State

LOGAN, Utah — Nevada (20-11, 4-2 MW) closed out its weekend in Logan with a complete team win on Sunday to defeat Utah State (14-17, 3-3 MW) 10–6 at LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field.

Utah State jumped ahead 4–0 in the first, but Nevada erased the deficit in the third when Hannah DiGenova hit a grand slam to tie the game at 4-4. Utah State answered with two runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead once again.

Bailie Clark hit a solo home run to cut the deficit by one at 6-5 in the fourth inning.

In the top of the sixth, Madison Clark singled to second base allowing Bailie Clark to score tying up the game at 6-6. Katie Wetteland followed with a single to bring in Matlyn Leetch extending to the lead to 7-6.

Di Genova delivered again, crushing a three-run home run putting the Pack in the lead. She finished the day 4-for-4 with seven RBIs.

Talia Tretton opened in the circle for 3.2 innings. Following Utah States surge, Hailey McLean earned the win with 1.1 hitless innings and two strikeouts, Sofie Seese followed with a clean sixth, and Tess Bumiller worked a scoreless seventh to seal the win.

The Pack looks to face Utah Valley for a mid-week match up in Orem, Utah on Monday, March 23 at 4 p.m. PT.
