Nevada Softball falls to Utah State

LOGAN, Utah — Nevada (20–11, 3–2 MW) fell 7–6 on Saturday afternoon at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Field to Utah State (14–16, 3–2 MW).

Nevada opened the game with early momentum when Madison Clark tripled to right and later scored, giving the Pack a 1–0 lead. Utah State answered with a run in the second and added three more in the third to move ahead 4–1.

The Pack broke through again in the fifth, cutting the deficit to 4–3 after Haylee Engelbrecht delivered a two‑run single to center.

Nevada's offense stayed hot in the seventh, beginning with a two-run home run from Hannah DiGenova to pull the Pack in the lead 5-4. Engelbrecht followed with another run‑scoring hit, and Nevada took the lead at 6–4.

Utah State, however, pushed through in the bottom of the seventh. Kya Pratt opened the inning with a single before Kaylee Erickson tied the game with a two-run homer to center. Ainsley Berlingeri got the next two outs, but Grace Matej walked it off with a homer to center.

Tess Bumiller worked 2.2 innings in the start before Berlingeri took over for the final four frames. Berlingeri pitched 3.1 scoreless innings before allowing three earned runs and taking the loss in the seventh.

Nevada and Utah State wrap the series at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Field with the rubber game tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT.
