LAS VEGAS, Nev. - No. 5 seed Nevada falls to No. 1 seed Utah State in the semifinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship on Friday afternoon. Nevada will now await word on postseason play.
As a team, the Pack shot 41 percent from the field, 26 percent from three, and 65 percent from the line.
Vaughn Weems and
Chuck Bailey III led the Pack offense in the double digits with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Weems tied his career high to lead the team in rebounds with nine.
The Aggies' offense shot 45 percent from the field, 21 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the line.
Kaleb Lowery,
Tayshawn Comer, and Weems led the defense with two steals apiece.
Nevada outscored Utah State in bench points with 25-21 and points from second chance, 11-7.
First Half:
Nevada and Utah State went three minutes without scoring before the Aggies' Adlan Elamin layup put up 2-0 on the score.
The Aggies put a six-point lead, but the Pack kept battling, getting a 12-11 lead with a
Chuck Bailey III second-chance layup.
Utah State gained back control of the game, putting a 27-19 lead at the 6-minute mark.
The Pack cut the deficit to 31-28 with a
Corey Camper Jr. layup, but the Aggies responded right after to end the half with a 39-32 score.
Second Half:
Utah State continued to dictate the rhythm of the game, putting a 48-34 lead early in the second half.
The Aggies put up a 20-point lead at the 11-minute mark after turnovers made by the Pack.
Amire Robinson and
Chuck Bailey III hit a couple of three-pointers late in the game to cut the deficit, but were unable to recover, falling to Utah State 79-66.
