SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nevada Softball closed out the Capital Classic with a 10-6 win over Sacramento State, finishing a perfect 5-0 weekend.
Nevada opened the game with
Hannah Di Genova coming home on a Hornets error. With the bases loaded,
Saige Alfaro followed with an RBI single to make it 2–0.
Anna Braukus and
Lexi O'Gorman scored on another Hornets fielding error, stretching the Wolf Pack's lead to 4–0 before Sacramento State answered with three runs of its own in the bottom half.
Sacramento State took its first and only lead in the bottom of the third, pulling ahead 6–4.
Nevada regained momentum in the sixth when
Talia Tretton drove an RBI infield single to shortstop.
Bailie Clark and
Haylee Engelbrecht capitalized on another Sacramento State error, pulling the Pack even at 6–6.
Bailie Clark then delivered the swing that flipped the game's energy, ripping a two‑run triple in the seventh to put Nevada back in front 8–6.
Madison Clark added an RBI single to score her sister and extend the lead to 9–6, and Di Genova capped the scoring with another RBI single to make it 10–6.
Hailey McLean earned the win, holding the Hornets to zero hits, zero runs, and recording five strikeouts across 4.2 dominant innings.
