Women's Basketball

Nevada can't overtake Boise State

Box Score RENO, Nev. -  Nevada Women's Basketball hosted its second 'When I Grow Up' game Wednesday morning, falling to Boise State, 70-61.

Nevada (7-15, 3-9 MW) overcame a slow start early, outscoring the Broncos (18-5, 9-3 MW) 14-1 over the last five-and-a-half minutes of the first quarter and building a lead of as much as 11 on the way to a 37-29 halftime advantage.

But Wolf Pack foul trouble in the second half gave the Broncos a way back into the game. Boise State went 16-for-18 from the line over the final 20 minutes, including 7-for-8 in the third quarter. Five straight free throws pulled the Broncos to within three at 39-36, then 3-pointers from Natalie Pasco and Keirra Thompson gave the Broncos a 48-47 lead entering the fourth.

An 8-0 run in the middle of the fourth allowed the Broncos to create space and pull away.

Skylar Durley led all players in scoring and rebounds with 20 points and eight boards, and was the only Pack player to score in double figures.

Boise State had three players in double figures with Libby Hutton dropping 16, followed by Pasco with 14. Mya Hansen went 7-for-8 from the line and had 12 points.

The Broncos also had the advantage from beyond the arc with nine to the Pack's three.

The game began with a quick 9-0 run by the Broncos. Ahrray Young stopped the run with 7:30 left on the clock and getting the first points for the Pack. Boise State then fell into a drought of its own while the offense came alive for Nevada. The Pack went 14-0 in the span of four minutes to take its first lead of the game.

Nevada maintained the advantage through the entire second quarter and pushed it to double-digits while shooting 50 percent from the floor. When halftime came, the Pack was in front, 37-29.

Nevada will head on the road to face Fresno State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
