Nevada Softball closes out the second day of the Capital Classic with two wins

DAVIS, Calif. – Nevada Softball closed out the second day of the Capital Classic with a 6-3 win over Santa Clara and a 4-0 win over UC Davis.

Nevada will conclude Capital City Classic play tomorrow at Sacramento State at noon.
 
Nevada 6, Santa Clara 3
The Wolf Pack set the tone in the third inning with an RBI single from Katie Wetteland. Maddie Clark followed with scoring on an error to put the Pack up 2-0. The Broncos wasted no time tying the game up in the bottom of the third.

Clark singled in Karolyn Glover to extend Nevada's lead to 3-2. Wetteland followed with another single, bringing Glover and Clark home and extended the lead to 5-2.

Nevada closed out the top of the sixth, as Clark scored on a ground from Wetteland, her third RBI of the day. Tess Bumiller earned the win, allowing just seven hits and three runs.

Nevada 4, UC Davis 0
Nevada started the game hot against UC Davis, opening with a three-run home run from Hannah Di Genova, her second of the weekend, giving the Pack a 3-0 lead. Saige Alfaro was able to score on an Aggie error to make it 4-0. The remainder of the innings remained scoreless across the board.

In the circle, Talia Tretton delivered four scoreless innings, only allowing four hits and striking out four. Sofie Seese handled the final two innings, where she had one strike out and allowed two hits.
