DAVIS, Calif. - Zach Story's solo homer in the bottom of the 10th walked off the Wolf Pack and completed UC Davis' comeback from three runs down for a 5-4 win.

Nevada (3-4) took a 4-0 lead with three runs in the top of the seventh thanks to RBIs from Jackson Waller, Jake Harvey, and Jayce Dobie. But UC Davis scored thrice in the bottom half, then tied the game on an infield single in the ninth. Story's solo shot in the 10th was his third hit of the night.

The loss spoiled a strong outing by spot-starter Mahiro Tomita, who struck out seven and scattered six hits over five scoreless innings.

Nik Miller worked a scoreless sixth before running into trouble in the seventh. With two on, Evan Gentil doubled into the gap in left-center, scoring Story and Tyler Howard to cut the Pack lead to 4-3.

Two innings later, Howard led off the ninth with a double off of Eric Valdez. But Valdez bounced back to strike out the next two batters. Two infield singles, however, allowed Howard to score the tying run, and, an inning later, Story's homer came again with two outs to end the game.

Valdez took his first loss of the season, going 3.2 innings. For UC Davis, Peter Storjohann went the final 3.1 innings, striking out five and allowing just one hit to get his first win.

Jacob Doyle had two hits to lead the Pack, while seven Wolf Pack batters had a hit on the night.

The Pack aims to even the series Saturday, with the second game of the series set for a 6 p.m. start.
