LP:Â Carter Seely (1-1)
RENO, Nev. -Â
Sean Yamaguchi capped Nevada's late comeback and weekend sweep with a two-run walk-off homer in the 10th inning Sunday, sending the Wolf Pack to a 5-3 win.
Junhyuk Kwon opened the extra frame being hit by a pitch, setting up Yamaguchi slamming a 2-0 Carter Seely fastball deep and out over the batter's eye in center. The homer capped a 2-for-5 day at the plate for the sophomore.
Nevada (3-3) forced the extra frame by answering Utah Valley's go-ahead run in the top of the ninth. Back-to-back two-out singles for the Wolverines, the latter getting through the right side from Luke Iverson, scored Brody Block from second and broke a 2-2 tie which had stood since the fifth.
The Pack got a second chance in the bottom half after
Rominic Quiban was thrown out at the plate trying to score from first on
Sam Kane's double down the line in left. With two out, Kane hustled to third on a short wild pitch, then scored the tying run as
Jack Metcho legged out a short bouncer to third for an infield hit.
Pack reliever
Nik Miller got the win by tossing a scoreless 10th. For the Wolverines (2-5), Seely fell to 1-1, only facing Kwon and Yamaguchi in the 10th.
Jordan Giacomini had a strong outing out of the bullpen, going 5.2 innings and striking out eight.
Quiban, along with Yamaguchi, had two hits while Metcho drove in two.
Nevada heads over the pass next weekend, traveling to UC Davis for a three-game set.
