Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Nevada Women's Basketball was on the road facing in-state rival UNLV on Saturday, falling to the Lady Rebels, 81-64.
Shooting from the line and from deep were a major impact for the Pack (8-19, 4-13 MW). One bright spot for the Pack was rebounds, pulling in 33 to the Lady Rebels' (18-9, 13-4 MW) 31.
The Pack got out to a hot start, holding the lead for over half of the opening 10. Nevada closed out the first quarter with a 6-0 run to continue with the advantage into the second quarter.
Nevada began to lose its momentum in the second. The Pack scored the first basket, but the Lady Rebels went on a 13-0 run while Nevada fell into a nearly five-minute drought.
After outscoring UNLV in the first quarter, 23-21, Nevada was trailing, 43-37 at the break.
The Pack wasn't able to string together a comeback in the second half. Neither team could get anything going through two minutes of play in the third, but the Lady Rebels began to take control and saw a lead of 12.
Imbie Jones led in scoring with 13 points, followed by
Skylar Durley 12 and
Ahrray Young with 11.
Amelia Raidaveta and
Makayla Carter led in boards with six.
Nevada will return home to face San José State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
