CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Nevada closed out its weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a dominant 10–2 (5) run‑rule victory over UC Riverside early Saturday morning.
Nevada 10, UC Riverside 2
UC Riverside struck first with two runs in the opening inning, but the Pack answered immediately. Nevada's first three hitters reached base, setting the tone for a big response. Maddie Clark came home on a throwing error to tie the game, and Talia Tretton followed with a double to center that scored Lexi O'Gorman and moved Katie Wetteland to third. Saige Alfaro added an RBI of her own to bring Wetteland in, giving Nevada a 3–2 lead after the first.
The Pack's offense rolled from there, powering a 15‑hit performance. Haylee Engelbracht launched two home runs, Tretton added a pair of doubles, and both Alfaro and Larsen contributed doubles of their own. With the lineup producing from top to bottom, Nevada built a commanding lead and secured the run‑rule win in five innings.
In the circle, Ainsley Berlengeri was in full control. She held UC Riverside to just four hits and recorded eight strikeouts across the complete game, keeping the Highlanders off balance throughout.
Nevada now turns its attention to the Capital City Classic, where the Pack will travel to Sacramento and Davis for a four‑game slate. The weekend features matchups against Sacred Heart, UC Davis, Santa Clara, and Sacramento State, offering another opportunity for Nevada to build momentum as tournament play continues.
