Head Coach Steve Alford to receive Coach Wooden "Keys to Life" Award

RENO, Nev. - Athletes in Action, an international sports ministry, is recognizing Nevada's Men's Basketball Head Coach and former NCAA National Champion Steve Alford with the Coach Wooden "Keys to Life" Award at their annual "Keys to Life" Breakfast.

"I'm very humbled and honored to receive this award. I've been fortunate to attend the 'Keys to Life' breakfast for many years, and it's always been a highlight of mine during the Final Four," says Coach Alford, "This is a true blessing, and I'm very grateful to be a part of this year's event in my home state of Indiana."

Alford, a two-time All-American player at Indiana University, was an integral part of the Hoosiers' team that won the NCAA Championship in 1987 under Head Coach Bobby Knight. As a coach, the Indiana native is one of four coaches to lead five different teams to the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Hosted by Athletes in Action, the 29th annual Coach John Wooden "Keys to Life" Breakfast is held annually during the NCAA Men's Final Four Weekend. This year, the breakfast will be held on Saturday, April 4, at 8:30 am EST at the Indiana Convention Center, with Co-Host on Fox TV's "First Things First" and former ESPN NBA Analyst, Chris Broussard, as the event emcee. The breakfast recognizes individuals in the game of basketball who exemplify character, leadership, and integrity in their homes, on the court, and throughout the community.

Named after legendary UCLA Coach and Indiana native, John Wooden, the Keys to Life Award is presented to a current or former basketball figure who best displays the character and leadership for which the Legendary Coach Wooden was known.
