Nevada can't hold off Colorado State

Box Score FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Nevada Women's Basketball faced Colorado State in the second of two regular season meetings, falling to the Rams, 70-59.

The first half was a close battle as neither team went ahead by more than six. Nevada (8-18, 4-12 MW) had the momentum going its way after closing out the first 10 with the lead. 

Despite a strong start, second half struggles continued to plague Nevada. After shooting nearly 45 percent from the floor in the first 20, Nevada dropped down to 34.4 percent in the second half. The third quarter was the deciding factor after the Pack went 2-for-15 for 11.8 percent. 

Shots from beyond the arc and from the line were also downfalls for Nevada, going 2-for-15 from deep and shooting 56.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Skylar Durley knocked down the first points of the game before Nevada fell into a scoring drought of over three minutes. After the Rams jumped in front by six, the Pack went on an11-0 run over the span of two minutes to retake the lead. Nevada went on to outscore Colorado State, 19-16, in the opening 10.

The teams went basket-for-basket to open the second until each team went on runs in a battle for the lead. The difference maker was the Rams having a run of 7-0 and one of 6-0, while the Pack only had one of 7-0. 

Colorado State began to pull away in the third, going on a 15-2 run over the span of five minutes. Nevada was held to only five points for the entire 10 minutes.

The Pack started to bounce back in the fourth, outscoring the Rams for a second time, 22-17. However, after falling behind by as much as 18, the comeback attempt wasn't enough.

Maia Rosarion came off the bench to have a season high 16 points with five rebounds. Durley had 13 points and led in rebounds with seven.

Nevada will remain on the road to face UNLV on Saturday at 2 p.m.
