RENO, Nev. - Nevada running back and kick returner
Ky Woods was named Old Trapper Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Woods provided one of the electrifying plays of the weekend around the conference Saturday, taking a fourth-quarter San José State kickoff 90 yards to the eight-yard line in his only return of the game. Combined with a Spartan penalty which moved the ball up to the four, Woods' return set up
Dominic Kelley's four-yard scoring run which ended Spartan comeback hopes.
The touchdown put the Wolf Pack back up 18 on the way to the 28-13 Homecoming victory. Woods also shared a tackle, helping bring down a Spartan punt return in the third quarter.
Woods' recognition is Nevada's fourth weekly conference honor of 2026 and second for the special teams unit (
Joe McFadden, September 28). The 90-yard kick return also moves Woods up to fourth in the country and tops in the Mountain West in kick-return average at 32.3 yards per return while as a unit the Wolf Pack kick return is fifth in the country.
Nevada travels to the Rose Bowl this Saturday to face No. 7/7 UCLA in non-conference action at 1:15 p.m.
