RIVERSIDE, Calif. -Â Nevada Men's Tennis cruised to a 7-0 non-conference victory at UC Riverside Monday.
The complete effort began in doubles, as Nevada took all three matches. At No. 1, the tandem of
Rayen Hermassi and
Nicolas Recoura downed Lucas Suarez and Lucas Mszyca, 6-2, with
Rémy Trégourès and
Max Contet taking a matching 6-2 win over the Highlanders' Michael Chang and Jovan Pedroza at No. 3. At No. 2,
Axel Huysmans and
Greg Valente picked up a 6-4 decision over Owen Pearson and Ivaylo Simeonov.
The Pack's momentum continued into singles play, as Nevada captured four of the six matches in straight sets. Huysmans, at No. 1, took a first-set tiebreaker over Simeonov then finished the 7-6 (1), 6-3 victory. Trégourès and Hermassi had little trouble at Nos. 2 and 3 with respective wins of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-3, 6-1 over their UC Riverside counterparts.
Sebastiano Cressi, at No. 6, beat Chang 6-2, 7-5.
Valente contributed to the clinch by overcoming a first-set tiebreak loss to take the next two sets from Pearson, winning 6-7 (1), 6-2, 6-2. At No. 5, newcomer
Ibrahim Snoussi completed his debut weekend with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9) comeback over Andrew Lavine.
Nevada returns to action next Sunday, heading over the pass to Sacramento State for an 11:30 a.m. first serve.
