Box Score MANHATTAN, Kans. - Nevada volleyball dropped a three-set match to Kansas State on Friday morning at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Classic, hosted at Morgan Family Arena.
Nevada opened the match keeping pace with Kansas State through the early rallies. Midway through the set, Kansas State began to pull ahead.
Despite trailing, Nevada responded with a short scoring run, narrowing the gap to just four. However, the Pack couldn't overcome and the Wildcats closed out the set 25-19.
Nevada came into the second set with renewed energy, determined to shift momentum after dropping the opener. The Pack traded points early with Kansas State, staying within striking distance through the first rotation. Midway through the set, Kansas State went on a 6-1 run, forcing Nevada into a timeout to regroup. The Pack responded well, narrowing the deficit with a pair of kills from Audrey Jensen and Haylee Brown, bringing the score to 18-22.
Despite the late push, Kansas State's offense proved consistent and the Wildcats closed out the set 25-18.
Nevada struggled to regain momentum in the third set as Kansas State quickly took control with a strong offensive rhythm. The Wildcats closed out the set 25-17, securing the match in straight sets.
Haylee Brown led the Pack in kills with 10, followed by Mckaley Herr with seven.
Nevada returns to Reno next week to host the Nevada Invitational, where they'll face Eastern Washington, UC Riverside, and Portland State at Virginia Street Gym.
