SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Taylor Holder hit a three-run homer in the first, and Nevada held off a late Sacramento State charge to close its non-conference, regular-season slate with a 6-4 win.

For the fourth-straight game, Nevada struck in the first inning. With one out, Michael Ball was hit by a pitch and Sean Yamaguchi singled to put two on. Two batters later, Holder lined one deep the opposite way off of starter Colin Hunter, and the Wolf Pack (29-19) were up 3-0 early.

Nevada starter Jayce Dobie rolled for much of his four-inning outing, matching his career high of six strikeouts and holding the Hornets scoreless with just three hits. Dobie worked his way out of a jam in the fourth—Elie Kligman reached on a wild-pitch strike three to extend the inning, and the Hornets loaded the bases on Myles Walton's walk. But Dobie got Nikhil Beasley swinging on a 3-2 pitch to end the threat.

Yamaguchi's RBI single made it 4-0 Wolf Pack in the third, as he went 2-for-3 on the night. Luke Oyler got Sacramento State on the board with a solo shot off of Zach Garber in the fifth, but Nevada added two in the seventh as Mason Hirata drove in Jackson Waller on a fielder's choice, then Donovan Ratfield came across on a wild pitch.

Garber went two-thirds of the fifth and got his second win of the season.

Sacramento State (28-21) cut it to two at 6-4 on Walton's three-run homer in the eighth, but Ryan Oakes settled back in and held the Hornets the rest of the way. Oakes finished off the final 4.1 innings for his first save.

Nevada returns to Reno and its chase for a Mountain West regular-season title, continuing action this weekend as it hosts San Diego State in the Wolf Pack's 2025 home finale. The Senior Weekend begins Friday night at 6:05 p.m.
