RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis got its first Mountain West win of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Wolf Pack's 4-3 victory over Air Force came via an unorthodox doubles point clinch.

Due to rain at McArthur Tennis Center, the match was pushed back two hours, and with the possibility of rain returning and other factors combined, the singles session was played first.

The singles session was split right down the middle with Nevada winning on courts, one, three, and five, while the Falcons won on court two, four, and six.

Air Force's Jack Brown scored the first point for the Falcons with a strong 6-0 first-set win and a key break in the second set, winning 6-4 against Rémy Trégourès.

Max Contet tied the dual for Nevada with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Langdon Tingleaf. After a back-and-forth first set filled with breaks, Contet locked down Tingleaf in the second set.

The Pack and Air Force continued to trade points as Alec Fritzinger defeated Rayen Hermassi, 7-5, 6-2 on court four, and Lucas Hammond beat AJ Moore on court three, 6-1, 6-3.

Youssef Kadiri won his first set, 6-4, after once leading it 5-0, which gave Phillip Deaton the momentum to win the second set, 6-4. When it mattered the most for Nevada, Kadiri dominated the third set, winning 6-1. Kadiri's win ensured that the match would either go to doubles or result in a Nevada win following singles.

Despite his efforts in both sets, Paul Théate fell to Arjun Kersten on court two, 7-5, 7-6 (4), sending the dual to a doubles session.

Each team dominated a match between courts one and two, tying the session at 1-1 and leaving the dual down to the third doubles match. Kadiri and Hammond swept Deaton and Tyler Leaird, 6-0, while Kersten and Brown defeated Trégourès and Greg Valente, 6-2.

On court three, Contet and Théate served first, allowing them to play ahead. Each team won a break early in the set and canceled each other out. Late in the set, both pairs held serve, despite Nevada playing on match point a couple of times while returning. Ultimately, the match went to a tiebreaker where Contet and Théate won multiple breaks and won, 7-2.

Nevada improves to 10-5 and 1-1 in conference play. The Pack is currently scheduled to play UC Davis at noon on Tuesday, April 1, back at McArthur Tennis Center.
