RENO, Nev. – The Wolf Pack and Aztecs played their second 1-0 game of the series, favoring San Diego State for the series finale.

Both teams dominated from the circle in the early innings with only one base runner reaching beyond first base between the teams in the first five.
Jessica McPartland and
Ainsley Berlingeri combined for three perfect innings from the third to fifth. On the other side of the scorebook, the Pack went nine up, nine down to start the game and stranded runners on the corners in the fourth inning.

In the sixth inning, San Diego State singled and walked to get first and second with one out, before Berlingeri got her sole strikeout and an infield popout to get herself out of the jam. The Pack also had runners on first and second with one out in their half of the inning when
Aaliyah Jenkins was caught in a rundown, and a flyout ended the inning.

San Diego State singled to start the first and advanced to second on a wild pitch but saw three straight batters get retired to end the inning. Nevada had a one, two, three innings in the seventh.

Into extra innings, Bella Espinoza and Cali Decker hit back-to-back singles to put a runner in scoring position. Jade Ignacio broke the tie, singling to right field to score the speedy Espinoza.

The Pack were given a huge opportunity in the bottom of the eighth with two errors to start the inning, getting
Bailie Clark and
Haylee Engelbrecht on the base paths.
Saige Alfaro bunted both runners into scoring position to record the first out of the inning. Following a two-for-three day, Jenkins was intentionally walked to load the bases and create a force play at second base.
Haley Painter struck out on an outside pitch that clipped the strike zone. A routine grounder to short ended the game, splitting the series 2-1.

McPartland got her first career conference start, pitching four innings and only allowing one hit and hitting a batter without any runs scoring on her watch. Berlingeri relieved McPartland and pitched two innings, only allowing one hit and one walk.
Hailey McLean finished the game for Nevada, pitching the seventh and eighth innings, giving up four hits, and allowing the Aztecs' run.

Jenkins's double in the sixth give her sole possession of the fourth most doubles in Wolf Pack history, passing Sam Bias with 46.
Madison Clark had a two-hit day with a pair of singles. She extends her hit streak to five games and hit four-for-seven against the Aztecs. Painter also reached base twice, once via a walk and the other on a hit-by-pitch. Painter's hit-by-pitch. Both teams now hold a 1-2 record in extra inning contests.

Despite the loss, Nevada still sits above the Aztecs in the Mountain West with a 4-2 record, holding the tiebreaker over San Diego State and Utah State. Fresno State leads the conference after three weeks with a 7-2 record. The Wolf Pack have a quick turnaround to Wednesday's doubleheader against UNLV in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union. The first game is scheduled for noon at Christina M. Hixson Softball Park.
