Pack Bounce Back with Shutout Win over Broncos

BOISE, Idaho – Nevada softball picked up its first win over the Mountain West season with a 5-0 win over Boise State.

Hailey McLean pitched the Wolf Pack's second complete-game shutout of the season and the second of her career. McLean was clutch from the beginning, striking out the final batter of the inning in each of the first three frames, all with runners on. The Sparks native would finish the game with six strikeouts and only allowed two hits. McLean reached 100 strikeouts on the season, making her the fastest Wolf Pack pitcher to do so according to record, dating back to 2011.

The Wolf Pack offense was getting aboard from the beginning and was able to score three runners in the second inning. A few Boise miscues allowed the Pack to load the bases and capitalize off a misplayed ground to score two runs. Aaliyah Jenkins followed with her first hit of the game, scoring Bailie Clark.

The scoring stopped for a while despite another bases-loaded opportunity for Nevada in the fourth inning.

Nevada added a pair of runs in the seventh. Saige Alfaro extended her on-base streak to seven Games with a leadoff single. Jenkins drove her in with the first Wolf Pack home run of conference play to give Nevada a 5–0 lead.

McLean finished the game with a pair of strikeouts in the seventh inning.

The victory brings the Wolf Pack to 1-1 in conference play and ends a three-game losing streak. The Pack will return to Dona Larsen Park tomorrow for the series finale at 11 AM PT.
