BOISE, Idaho – Nevada Softball fell to Boise State in its Mountain West opener, 11-8, Friday night. The Wolf Pack's losing skid extends to three games.

Nevada's bats were going early, scoring three runs in the first inning.
Aaliyah Jenkins and
Haley Painter reached via a hit-by-pitch and walk, respectively.
Hannah Di Genova got her first RBI of the day, singling to center field to score Jenkins, advancing to second on the throw. The next batter,
Haylee Engelbrecht, continued her hot streak with a single to the shortstop. An errant throw allowed both Painter and Di Genova to score, giving Nevada a 3-0 lead.

Boise State responded immediately with a lead off double from Sophia Knight, adding to her national lead in hits. With two outs, Makenzie Butt lined a single to left, scoring Knight. Brooklynn Pettis tied the game with a home run to center field.

In the top of the second,
Saige Alfaro got her first hit of the game, grounding a ball up the middle. After stealing second, Alfaro scored on a Jenkins RBI single.

The Broncos broke open the game in the bottom half of the second. A walk to lead off the inning, followed by a single and stolen base, set up Quinn Southerland's two-run double. Butt doubled down the left field line to score Butt, who was scored on another double hit by Pettis.

Mykenzie Hanna hit the second homer of the game for Boise State to lead off the fourth inning. Butt got her third hit of the day with a single to right. Butt would later score on a grounder to first base.

Down five, the Wolf Pack's comeback attempt began in the fifth inning. Alfaro doubled to lead off the inning, followed up by a Jenkins single. Di Genova grounded out to short, allowing Alfaro to score on the play.

In the top of the sixth,
Madison Clark reached on a throwing error by the Bronco catcher. A
Maya Larsen single and advancement on the throw gave the Pack second and third with no outs.
Tatum Maytorena was hit to load the bases.
Bailie Clark singled to score her sister, Madison. Larsen's pinch runner,
Matlyn Leetch was thrown out at home on the B. Clark hit. Alfaro got her third hit of the game with a bunt single to load the bases again. The Pack was not able to score in a pair of plate appearance to end the inning.

The Broncos got the run back and more in the bottom half of the inning. Hanna led off the inning with a single and was driven in with Pettis's second homer of the game.

Nevada attempted one more comeback in the seventh. Engelbrecht led off the inning with a single and was moved to second on an
Avery Cordell pinch hit single. Larsen got her second hit, scoring Engelbrecht and M. Clark, who reentered for Cordell. The Pack were not able to get anything else across in the seventh.

Ainsley Berlingeri got the start for Nevada, pitching 1.2 innings. Seven runs scored on seven hits while Berlingeri was pitching.
Tess Bumiller pitched 3.1 innings in relief, only allowing three hits, but allowing two runs.
Jessica McPartland closed the game, pitching one inning and allowing two runs.
