FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -Â For the second-straight day,
Bailey Heydra reached a final at the Zone E Diving Championships but fell just short of an automatic berth at next week's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Heydra would finish 15th overall with a final score of 436.45.
Heydra just made the Platform final, coming in 18th in the preliminary round with a score of 222.60. With scores carrying over from the prelim round to the final, Heydra was 13.95 points out of ninth place, the last automatic qualifying spot on Platform.
The redshirt junior stayed within shouting distance of ninth after the first few attempts of the five-round final, but a score of 36.25 on her final dive put qualification out of reach.
Lucia Gabino wrapped her season with a 23rd-place finish in Platform, finishing the prelim round with a score of 206.25.
Wednesday's final day of competition will be on 1-Meter Springboard, with Heydra, the reigning Mountain West champion, the lone Wolf Pack diver entered.
