RENO, Nev. - The Fremont Cannon remains red after Nevada fell, 42-17, to UNLV Saturday night at Mackay Stadium. The Wolf Pack finishes the 2025 campaign 3-9 overall and 2-6 in Mountain West play.
The game turned early in the second quarter, as Nevada was driving in Rebel territory trailing 14-3. The Pack needed just four plays and an offsides penalty to move to the UNLV 34, facing 3rd-and-1. But running back
Caleb Ramseur was hit right at the first down marker by Blesyng Alualu-Tuiolemotu, jarring the ball loose. Chief Borders fell on the ball and UNLV took over.
The Rebels (10-2, 6-2 MW) quickly drove to the Nevada 17, and quarterback Anthony Colandrea capped it with a 17-yard touchdown run to put UNLV up 21-3. The Rebels would then force a Nevada punt, and drive 73 yards in nine plays, going up 28-3 on Jai'Den Thomas' 18-yard run with 4:09 to go in the half.
Nevada saw a flicker of hope on the opening drive of the second half.
Chubba Purdy took a direct snap and sped 58 yards to the UNLV 17 on the opening play, and Ramseur finished it from 17 yards out to cut the deficit to 28-10. Ramseur would finish the night with a team-high 95 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 15 carries, while Purdy went for 73 yards on six attempts.
But UNLV quickly shut the door on any Wolf Pack comeback hopes. The Rebels took the kickoff and went 75 yards in just five plays, as Thomas again found the end zone this time from four yards out. Thomas would score four times on the ground, finishing the night with 103 yards on 11 carries making him the only player to run for 100 yards against the Wolf Pack this season.
Wolf Pack safety
Murvin Kenion III intercepted two Colandrea passes for this second two-interception game of the season and capping his season with five total. Colandrea finished with 270 yards passing and a touchdown, going 15-for-22. For Nevada,
Carter Jones was 17-for-25 for 105 yards while
AJ Bianco went 6-for-8 for 43 yards late.
