RENO, Nev. - Nevada running back
Caleb Ramseur and quarterback
Carter Jones were recognized Monday morning by the Mountain West for their performances in Saturday's 55-10 win over San José State.
Ramseur was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week while Jones was named Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week. The weekly conference honors are the first for the Wolf Pack in 2025.
Ramseur recorded the first 100-yard rushing game for a Wolf Pack running back since last season, going for 128 yards on 20 carries against the Spartans. The Elk Grove, Calif., native also found the end zone twice, once by ground, an 11-yard score in the third quarter, and also via a 30-yard reception from Jones early in the second quarter which upped the Wolf Pack lead to 21-0.
For the game, Ramseur led all players with 157 all-purpose yards, as he added 29 yards on two catches to his rushing total. This season, Ramseur leads the Wolf Pack with six touchdowns (three rush, three receiving) and 500 rushing yards.
Jones had one of his finest games since taking over the starting quarterback role on Oct. 11. The rookie from Lancaster, Texas was dialed in from the start and went on to complete 16-of-19 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. After a Wolf Pack takeaway started a drive on the Spartan 30 with a 7-0 lead, Jones quickly took Nevada to the end zone, finding
Chubba Purdy with a seven-yard toss to make it 14-0.
Jones' 30-yard scoring pass to Ramseur early in the second quarter made it 21-0, capping a 13-play, 78-yard drive. For the game, Jones led the Wolf Pack on three touchdown drives of at least 65 yards and his efficiency helped Nevada hold the ball for a season-best 37 minutes, 25 seconds.
Nevada goes for two in a row this Saturday when it visits Wyoming for an 11 a.m. PT kickoff on the Mountain West Network and MW App.
