Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nevada Falls to Boise State

BOISE, Idaho. - The Nevada Wolf Pack struggled to find consistency on the road as they dropped a 56-66 decision to Boise State on January 29, 2025, at ExtraMile Arena. The game was marked by offensive struggles in the first half, and despite a stronger second-half effort, the Wolf Pack couldn't overcome Boise State's efforts.

Nick Davidson led Nevada in scoring with 18 points on an efficient 6-for-10 shooting, including 3-of-4 from three-point range. He also added four rebounds. Kobe Sanders followed with 9 points, going 3-for-9 from the field. For Boise State, Javan Buchanan was the top scorer, finishing with 19 points and five rebounds, while Alvaro Cardenas chipped in 18 points and five assists to help seal the win.

First Half

Nevada struggled to get going offensively in the first half, shooting just 25 percent (5-of-20) from the field. The Wolf Pack did manage to keep themselves in the game thanks to strong free-throw shooting, converting 11-of-13 attempts (84.6 percent). Davidson was the bright spot, scoring 7 of his 18 points in the first half, including a key three-pointer that cut into Boise State's early lead.

Boise State, meanwhile, built their advantage by shooting 37.5 percent from the floor and knocking down four three-pointers. The Broncos' defensive pressure forced Nevada into 8 turnovers in the first half, leading to transition opportunities. Despite their struggles, the Wolf Pack kept things competitive, heading into halftime trailing just 28-24.

Second Half

Nevada showed improvement offensively in the second half, shooting 54.5 percent from the field, but their comeback efforts were hindered by missed free throws (5-of-11). Davidson and Sanders both found their rhythm, with Davidson adding 11 second-half points and Sanders contributing 7 of his 9 points after the break. However, Boise State responded with consistent scoring from Buchanan and Cardenas, who combined for 18 second-half points.

Boise State extended their lead to as much as 16 points with just over six minutes to play, taking advantage of second-chance points and key defensive stops. Nevada closed the gap slightly in the final minutes but never seriously threatened to reclaim the lead. The Broncos defense held strong, limiting the Wolf Pack's three-point attempts and forcing contested shots in the final possessions.

With the loss, Nevada fell to 11-10 overall and 3-7 in Mountain West play. The Wolf Pack will look to bounce back in their next game against UNLV on February 1 in Lawlor Events Center.
