BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In yet another thrilling five-set match, the Nevada women's volleyball team edged out Seattle U (23-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-9, 15-13) at the Icardo Center. This victory marks Nevada's third consecutive win decided in five sets, showcasing the Wolf Pack's resilience and determination as they improve to 3-1 on the season.
Gabby McLaughlin once again led the charge for Nevada, registering a match-high 19 kills on a .289 hitting percentage. Tehya Maeva contributed crucial support with 46 assists, while Carissa Chainey added 13 kills, including the match-winner in the final set. Sia Liilii proved pivotal at the net, with five blocks. As well as Bela Snyder leading the team with six.
The match began in favor of Seattle U, who took the first two sets. However, Nevada responded emphatically, dominating the third set 25-12. The Wolf Pack continued to build momentum, narrowly capturing the fourth set before completing the comeback in a nail-biting fifth set. Defensive standout Kinsley Singleton anchored Nevada with 17 digs, while McKenna Dressel recorded four key blocks to help stifle Seattle U's offense.
In the fifth set, Nevada jumped to an early 5-2 lead, thanks to a kill by McLaughlin and crucial defensive plays. Seattle U battled back to tie the score at 12-12, but McLaughlin and Chainey delivered timely kills to seal the win.
Nevada will look to carry this momentum into their next match against Oregon State tomorrow at 1 p.m.
