RENO, Nev. - Nevada Women's Soccer hosted Grand Canyon in the second of a two-game homestand, dropping the match to the Lopes with a final score of 1-0.
The loss marks the Wolf Pack's fifth consecutive, now sitting with a record of 2-5. There are two games left before the start of conference play, both on the road. The next match is at CSU Bakersfield on September 19th, followed by Cal Poly on the 22nd.Â
Sunday, Nevada kept Grand Canyon at bay for the majority of the first half. The lone goal didn't come until the 43rd minute, scored by GCU's Ellie Crisler. Despite the goal, the Pack outshot the Lopes in the first 45, 13-10, but couldn't connect to put points on the board.Â
Playing from behind in the second half, Nevada had a few chances to tie it up. Late in the game, the Wolf Pack found themselves close as
Serene Gronauer was positioned directly in front of the goal. She got off a shot, but came up empty as it was saved by GCU's goalie.Â
Defensively, the Pack held the Lopes to just the one goal in the first.
Mia Collins recorded seven saves for Nevada.
