RENO, Nev. - Nevada Athletics will celebrate the launch of LatinX and Hispanic Heritage Month at home events beginning this weekend.

LatinX and Hispanic Heritage Month runs Sept. 15-Oct. 15, a time to celebrate the achievements, histories, traditions, and cultural diversity of Hispanic/Latino/LatinX Americans whose heritage is rooted in 20 Latin American countries.

Nevada Football will recognize LatinX and Hispanic Heritage Month at Sept. 21's contest against Eastern Washington, set for a 12 p.m. kickoff.

At Saturday's contest, Agua Fresca will be available for purchase at the pregame tailgate, with micheladas and margaritas available for purchase inside Mackay Stadium.

Along with student, faculty and community recognitions, Corwin Buick GMC will present a $15,000 check to Tu Casa Latina and the University of Nevada Latino Research Center.

The pregame tailgate at the We Are Nevada Fan Zone will feature performances from the University of Nevada Mariachi Lobos de Plata and Ballet Folklorico Raices de Hielo.

The Wolf Pack soccer team will hold its LatinX and Hispanic Heritage Month match Oct. 16, at 1 p.m. against Colorado College at Mackay Stadium. "VAMOS PACK" soccer scarves will be handed out to the first 350 fans in attendance.
