RENO, Nev. - After nearly a month without playing in its home stadium, Nevada hosted Idaho in a Thursday night battle that ended with the Wolf Pack falling in just the final minute, 1-0.
The Wolf Pack created multiple chances for themselves throughout the entire match. The first came in the 22nd as
Cassidy Bell had the lone shot on goal in the first half for Nevada. Just over four minutes later,
Emily Rich broke away with a good read, but the shot ultimately sailed left.
Just before halftime,
Maddie Benson had a great run to deliver the ball into the middle, but the Wolf Pack came away empty.
On the defensive end,
Mia Collins had five saves in the first half, perhaps her most notable coming in the 38th minute. Idaho earned a free kick that appeared to have lined just above Collins, but she stretched out for the diving save.
Nevada kept the intensity coming out of the break with back-to-back chances just seconds apart in the 59th minute.
In the goal, Collins continued to battle off shots as she once again dove for a save in the 60th minute.
Isabella Srodes found herself in the perfect position in the 80th minute as she shot a well-placed ball that was saved by just the fingertips of Idaho's diving goalie.
Trinity Sandridge got off her own shot in the 86th, but it missed just right.
The only goal of the game came in the 89th minute as Idaho's Karli Yoshida-Williams landed the ball in the bottom left corner.
With time winding down, Nevada wasn't able to tie it up, dropping the match to make its record 2-4.
Nevada was outshot 22-11 in the match and only had two on goal compared to Idaho's nine.
The Wolf Pack will remain at home to take on Grand Canyon on Sunday, September 15th, at 1 PM.
