RENO, Nev. - Nevada running back Patrick Garwo III was named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, Thursday.

Garwo was previously announced as a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team in July.

College Football's Premier Award for Community Service and one of the most meaningful awards in collegiate sports, The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy is named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida who parlayed his success on the football field into a lifetime of service. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy embodies Wuerffel's commitment to being a humanitarian, while honoring student-athletes who are inspired to serve others and make positive impacts on society. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Trophy's founding, and the Foundation will recognize the first nineteen recipients throughout the fall season.

Garwo is set to make his Wolf Pack debut this fall. The sixth-year running back spent his first five seasons at Boston College, where he was named to the All-ACC Second Team in 2021. The Levittown, Pa., native rushed for 1,913 yards and 11 touchdowns over his five seasons (2019-23) with the Eagles, also earning All-New England honors from the New England Football Writers in 2021.

The 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists and recipient will be selected by an illustrious national voting committee, including a fan vote component, and announced on ESPN's Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12th. The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Presentation Gala will take place February 1, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.

Nevada will Launch the Jeff Choate Era Saturday, Aug. 24, when it hosts new ACC member SMU at 5 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. Choate spent the past three seasons (2021-23) as co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Texas, helping lead the Longhorns to a Big XII title and College Football Playoff appearance in 2023. Prior to his time in Austin, Choate served as head coach at Montana State from 2016-20, leading the Bobcats to a pair of FCS playoff berths, including a run to the semifinals in 2019.
