Nevada Silver & Blue limited-edition bottling of Frey Ranch Four Grain Bourbon unveiled

RENO, Nev. - Today, award-winning Nevada born and raised Frey Ranch® Distillery and Nevada Athletics celebrate their partnership with a first-of-its-kind University of Nevada Sesquicentennial limited-edition bourbon (SRP: $54.99). Commemorating the University's 150th anniversary, the whiskey's signature Frey Ranch Four Grain Straight Bourbon will don a special silver and blue label, the first time that Frey Ranch has modified its bottle since the brand launched its unique farm-to-glass whiskey operation in the Battle Born State. The Sesquicentennial Bottle will be available for purchase statewide beginning Monday, Aug. 12 at retailers, including Raley's, Lee's Discount Liquor, Total Wine, Ben's Liquor and Whole Foods, among others. On Friday, Aug. 16, fans may order a bottle through distribution partner Speakeasy Co., which ships to more than 30 states. Only 10,000 bottles will be available for sale.

With its showstopping silver and blue label, the Sesquicentennial Bottle pays homage to both the University of Nevada and Wolf Pack fans around the world. While the bottle received an honorary University of Nevada makeover for this special partnership, the whiskey inside is a true farm-to-table bourbon. Frey Ranch Four Grain Bourbon is 100 percent sustainably grown, malted, distilled, matured and bottled on the farm. Aged for five years, this 90-proof bourbon is smooth yet complex with oak and citrus aromas followed by vanilla, caramel, banana chips, and dried hay on the palate. Featuring a 4-grain mash bill of non-GMO corn, winter cereal rye, winter wheat, and two-row barley-malted, this is a flavorful bourbon that can be enjoyed on its own, yet also holds up in any whiskey-based cocktails.

Frey Ranch co-founders & husband and wife team Colby and Ashley Frey met at the University of Nevada in 2004 and married in August 2010. Since then, they've launched a highly successful American Whiskey business that's taking the bourbon world by storm. Utilizing only the grains grown on-site at their Fallon, Nev. based farm, Frey Ranch is one of the only whiskey operations in the world considered a true "estate" distillery. Their commonsense sustainability measures and adherence to time-honored agricultural traditions have created a gold standard in farm-to-glass whiskey production. The partnership with the University of Nevada comes as Frey Ranch marks 10 years of distilling in Northern Nevada.

"Ashley and I met while attending the University of Nevada, so collaborating with them to create this limited-edition, commemorative silver and blue label holds a special place in our hearts," said Colby Frey. "Supporting our local community while giving back to the institutions and organizations that have supported us as we met, married, started a family, and grown as small business owners is incredibly important to us. We are beyond excited to share these bottles with our fellow Wolf Pack alumni and fans," Frey continued.

The partnership between Frey Ranch Distillery and Nevada Athletics kicked off earlier this year as Nevada Athletics Director Stephanie Rempe, football head coach Jeff Choate and select members of the Wolf Pack Athletic Association traveled to Frey Ranch Distillery to taste several single barrels with Colby, Ashley and the Frey Ranch team – landing on two distinct single barrels as special Nevada Wolf Pack picks. Following on the heels of the first single barrel release in the spring, the second single barrel - Barrel #2334 – is sure to be another crowd-pleaser. The whiskey is made with the same slow-grown grains and presents nougat, baking spices and orange peel on the nose, with hints of brown sugar, chocolate covered caramel, crème brûléeand caramelized peanut brittle on the palate. It ends with a long, luxurious finish with notes of dried apricot and confectionary sugar.

"Partnering with Colby and Ashley has been an incredible journey, blending the rich tradition of whiskey and Wolf Pack Athletics with the vibrant spirit of innovation," said Rempe. "We are immensely grateful for the Freys' unwavering support for athletics program and the community, which has been pivotal in making this collaboration a resounding success."

Along with the second single barrel release, the partnership will culminate this summer during a public event, where legal drinking age Wolf Pack fans can experience the sweet taste of victory through this exciting collaboration between these two legends of Northern Nevada. Both the Sesquicentennial Bottle and the second single barrel whiskey will be exclusively available in the Frey Ranch Tasting Room in Fallon on Saturday, Aug. 10 beginning at 12 p.m. PST. The event is free and open to all with giveaways, tours and tastings, as well as Nevada Blue inspired cocktails, which will be available for purchase. Representatives from Nevada Athletics will also be on site to celebrate the partnership. For more information, visit the event page here.
