LAS VEGAS - Thursday's Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union matchup between Nevada and UNLV again was coming down to the wire, but it was the Rebels who prevailed, 4-2, in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas.

Nevada's 2024 campaign comes to a close with the defeat. The Wolf Pack finished 11-9 overall, and went 5-4 in Mountain West play, its fifth-place finish the program's highest since 2017.

Thursday, the top Nevada doubles pair of Amahée Charrier and Anastasia Luneva picked up a 6-2 victory over its UNLV counterpart for an early Wolf Pack edge. But the Rebels took the doubles point with 6-3 wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, with Cindy Hu and Coco Zhao defeating Nevada's Marlene Foerster and Léa Cakarevic at No. 2, and Salsa Aher and Aura Fang beating Nevada's Kennedy Robinson and Mia Miranda at No. 3.

Nevada's backs were to the wall at 0-3 as UNLV captured the first two singles decisions. At No. 2, Aher defeated Foerster, 6-0, 6-1, while at No. 4, Zhao beat Luneva, 6-1, 6-1.

The Wolf Pack fought back valiantly, beginning with Charrier's 6-3, 6-1 straight-sets victory over Zita Kovacs at No. 1. Robinson downed Fang with a straight-sets victory of her own, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6, to bring Nevada to within a point at 3-2.

Lou Anne Guerbert rallied in the second set at No. 3, outlasting Hu, 7-5, to stave off defeat, and had a 2-1 lead in the third set. But UNLV clinched the team decision at No. 5, as Nikol Mircheva finished a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Wiem Boubaker.
