Bergman awarded WBCA’s Thirty Under 30

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball assistant coach Halie Bergman was named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30 honoree for 2023-24 on Thursday.

Bergman, who has been on Nevada's staff since 2018, was the only coach to represent the Mountain West Conference in this year's class.

"We are super excited for Halie that she is getting this well-deserved honor from the WBCA," head coach Amanda Levens said. "As a member of our program both as a player and coach, Halie has displayed tremendous dedication, work ethic, determination and care to elevate our program on a daily basis. She makes a positive influence on our student-athletes on and off the court and she is someone that we can always count on. We are ecstatic for Halie to receive this honor."

Bergman enters her second season as an assistant coach and seventh year as a member of the Nevada women's basketball staff. Previously serving as a graduate assistant and director of player development for the Wolf Pack, Bergman has impacted the development of student-athletes on and off the court while working to engage the program with the Northern Nevada community.

Now playing a key role in recruiting, scouting and game planning for opponents, Bergman helped Nevada to its second top four finish in the Mountain West in the last three years this past season. Bergman also helped Nevada collect a pair of All-Mountain West honors and win 10 games in conference play for the second time in the last three years.

As a player, Bergman competed in 95 career games at Nevada after transferring from Pacific. During her senior year, she started in all but one contest and averaged 6.4 points per game while hitting a career-best 44 3-pointers and dishing out a career-high 58 assists.

After a four-year playing career with Nevada women's basketball, Bergman served as a graduate assistant starting in 2018 and spent two and a half seasons in that role. She was elevated to director of player development in January 2021.

Bergman has earned three degrees at Nevada, receiving her bachelor's degree in business management along with two master's degrees in educational leadership and justice management.

"It is an honor to be recognized as a member of this year's WBCA Thirty under 30 class," Bergman said. "Recognitions like this don't happen without being surrounded by great people. I am grateful to the rest of the staff and our players for believing in me and allowing me to grow and contribute to a tremendous program."

The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each honoree has exemplified their involvement in community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner, and attitude and professional association involvement.

Nevada women's basketball will begin its offseason preparation and host various summer activities for the Northern Nevada community. The team's annual golf outing fundraiser will take place Friday, June 21 at Wolf Run Golf Club. Nevada will also host three summer camps: Team Camp (June 22-23), Overnight Camp (July 23-25) and Elite Camp (August 2). More information can be found on NevadaWolfPack.com.
