Pack clinches series win over Fresno State in Saturday’s showdown

RENO, Nev. – The Pack secures its first conference series of the season with a 10-4 victory over the Bulldogs.
 
The Pack got into a quick 3-0 hole with Fresno State coming out hot in the first, with a two-run home run and reaching home on a throwing error.
 
Nevada answered back with a four-run bottom of the first starting with five singles. Bridgette Gilliano singling to center field. Gabby Herrera followed with a single of her own, with both Gilliano and Herrera advancing on the throw, with Gilliano scoring. Taryn Jenkins singled through the left side bringing home Herrera. Aaliyah Jenkins doubled down the left field line, advancing T. Jenkins to third. Charli Hawkins singled scoring A. Jenkins and T. Jenkins, giving the Pack the 4-3 lead.
 
Chelie Senini's speed added to the Pack's lead in the second with a single, stealing second and third and reaching home on a throwing error, extending the lead, 5-3.
 
Both the Pack and the Bulldogs added a run in the third, Pack holds on to the lead, 6-4.
 
The Pack loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth with a single, reaching on an error, and a walk. Maile Olsen came to the plate and drew a walk, scoring T. Jenkins.
 
Chelie Senini had her second leadoff single of the game in the fifth, and stole second. Haley Painter drew a walk and Gilliano had a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners. Gabby Herrera came to the plate and crushed her eighth home run of the season, putting the stamp on a 10-4 Pack victory.
 
Carley Brown pitched a complete game, after giving up three runs in the first. Brown struckout three, walked two, and gave up four runs on five hits.

Notables: 
  • Chelie Senini passes Britanny Puzey for 4th all-time Nevada Career Hits (224).
  • Gabby Herrera went 3-for-4, her second game of the season with three hits.
  • Bridgette Gilliano extends her hitting streak and on-base streak to seven.
  • Nevada improves the 6-1 when their opponent scores first.
  • The Wolf Pack scores at least ten runs for the eighth time this season.
UP NEXT:
The Pack return to Hixson for the final game of opening weekend series versus Fresno State, tomorrow, Sunday, March 12 with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
