HOUSTON, Texas – Nevada concludes day three of Mountain West Championships with a new conference and meet record in the 100 backstroke. The Pack stands in fifth following the third day of competition with 567 points behind first place San Diego State, UNLV, Colorado State, and Fresno State.
The finals started with the 200 freestyle relay finishing seventh with a time of 1:33.25.
Frederica Kizek had a dominant performance in the 400 IM finishing with a visit to the podium finishing second with a time of 4:13.61, an NCAA B standard time. Kizek's time now ranks third all-time in Nevada history.
Sara Mihalic gets the 10th place finish with a time of 4:19.75,
Audrey Bull in 18
th (4:24.11), and
Katelyn Buono in 22
nd (4:28.20).
Yasmin Perry etched her name into the Nevada record books in the 100 butterfly finishing fifth with an NCAA B standard time of 53.26. Perry now ranks third all-time in respective event in program history. Evie Wood finished 17
th (54.98) and
Caitlin Smith in 24
th (57.29).
In the final event of the day,
Scarlett Ferris had the fastest time the Mountain West has seen in the 100 backstroke, breaking the Mountain West Conference and Mountain West Championship meet record with a record breaking time of 51.49. Ferris now holds the record in the 100 backstroke in the Mountain West, Mountain West Championship meet, and Nevada Wolf Pack. The previous record all-time Mountain West and meet record of 51.92 was held by San Diego State's Anika Apostalon on Feb. 21, 2024. The previous Wolf Pack record was 52.69 from
Josien Wijkhuijs in 2022.
Ferris qualified for NCAA Championships held March 20-23.
