HOUSTON, Texas – Pack concludes the second day of the Mountain West Championships in third following the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 3-meter springboard, and 400 medley relay. Nevada remains in third place with 356 points, behind San Diego State with 568 and UNLV with 484.50.
Nevada diver
Melissa Mirafuentes secured the silver medal in the 3-meter springboard with a score of 363.75. Her highest scoring dive came in her final dive of the event scoring a 71.55.
Lucia Gabino finished in fifth with 300.55 points.
Madison Simons made the B final in 15
th with 240.00.
Dani Griffin rounded out the Pack in 27
th with a score of 192.95.
The Pack kicked off the swim finals with the 500 freestyle.
Frederica Kizek represented the Pack in the A finals, finishing second with a personal best time of 4:44.85. This time now ranks second best time in Nevada history in the 500 freestyle.
In the 200 IM,
Sara Mihalic qualified for the B final finishing 11th overall with a time of 2:02.24. Evie Wood rounded out the B final finishing 16
th with a time of 2:03.87.
Scarlett Ferris represented the Pack in the A final finishing eighth with a time of 23.14.
The Pack finished the second day of finals with the 400 medley relay. The squad composed of
Yasmin Perry,
Sara Mihalic,
Evie Floate, and
Scarlett Ferris finished in second with the new best time in Nevada history of 3:36.14. The previous program record was 3:37.14 from 2021.
With Ferris' 100 backstroke split of 52.14 in the 400 medley relay, she now holds the all-time best time in Nevada history in the 100 backstroke, breaking the previous record of 52.69 in 2022.
