RENO, Nev. - Nevada Women's Tennis player Kennedy Robinson was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, Wednesday afternoon. The Henderson, Nev. native earned the award after winning both of her doubles matches to start the dual season. This is Robinson's first honor of her collegiate career.Â
"We are really proud of Kennedy for receiving the Freshman of the Week award," said head coach Guillaume Tonelli. "She's been working really hard on the court, in the weight room, and in the classroom. She fought through a really good weekend, and we can't wait to see what next weekend brings."Â
Robinson played a key role in the Wolf Pack's weekend sweep of both doubles points. At UC Davis, Robinson paired with Wiem Boubaker to defeat Michelle Zell and Carly Schwartzberg, 6-4. The win clinched the opening point of the dual for the Pack, leading Nevada to a 5-2 victory over the Aggies.Â
At Sacramento State, Robinson teamed with Lou-Anne Guerbert, beating the Hornets' Mayya Gorbunova and Reese Walker, 6-2. Having already lost the first doubles match, Robinson and Guerbert's victory sparked the doubles comeback for the Pack, earning the early advantage for the second dual in a row.Â
The Wolf Pack travels to the Bay Area, taking on Santa Clara and Saint Mary's, Feb. 24-25. The matches are scheduled to begin at 11 A.M. and 10 A.M., respectively.Â
